Description Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an experienced User Experience Engineer 4 - Lead (Strategy Lead) to work within our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The position is located in Fairfax, VA.

UX Strategy Lead Engineer The hardest and most complex problems beg the need for strategists UX champions to align our design methodologies to existing acquisition and execution processes. The most important thing that you do as a UX Strategy Lead Engineer is to listen. Listen to customers so that you can help them identify how to implement user-centered design principles into their organizations.
Listen to users so that you can find ways to engage them more productively. Listen to your own peers so that you can help them practice user-centered design on their current projects. You learn the jargon and purpose behind the customers' priorities, so that you know the implications of their strategic goals on your work. You often find yourself in discussions regarding the value of design thinking and feel energized when you are able to teach people the methods and tools. You are a servant leader who helps your team grow professionally and personally. You apply your empathy to your team too, to learn the dynamics of the team and how to work best with each individual. You are the most happy when someone on your team is recognized for their excellent performance. You know your strengths and weaknesses and love to flex your design muscles. You will spend most of your time working directly on a project to grow their user-centered design practice from an infrastructure and personnel perspective. You are excellent at user research where you engage with customers and users to gather, distill, and share mission insights so that the development team has a better understanding of what problems to solve. You work hand-in-hand with the same development team to construct innovative, yet practical, solutions that meet the users’ needs. You work closely with the program management team to define strategies for project effectiveness, team engagement and project strategic growth.
You will also leverage your experiences to help other teams establish user experience strategies. Occasionally, you will help devise design and development approaches to help grow our business.

Qualifications Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree with nine years experience. in human–computer interaction, design, human factors, cognitive or behavioral science, psychology, anthropology, or similar field. • Experience with developing user-centered design approaches for projects, pursuits, and research opportunities. • Experience creating and communicating clearly via abstract diagrams and models of tasks, work, goals, information, decisions, product wireframes, and prototypes. • Experience communicating the value of user-centered design and design thinking to customers, users, program managers, executive leaders in large and small groups. • Demonstrable success conducting and leading user research and design exercises, such as field observations, user interviews, focus groups, brainstorming sessions, ethnographic research, design studios, and card sorting. • Demonstrable success working in a software-development team. • Demonstrable success growing teams and leading them towards a common mission. • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. • U.S. Citizen. TS/SCI clearance.
Preferred Qualifications: • Master’s degree in human–computer interaction, design, human factors, cognitive or behavioral science, psychology, anthropology, or similar field and 7 years experience. • Demonstrable success and hands-on experience implementing user-centered design principles on existing or new projects, pursuits, and/or research opportunities. • Demonstrable success and hands-on experience creating and communicating clearly via abstract diagrams and models of tasks, work, goals, information, decisions, product wireframes, and prototypes of all kinds of fidelity. • Demonstrable success communicating the value of user-centered design and design thinking to customers, users, program managers, executive leaders in large and small groups. • Demonstrable success working in a diverse team in an Agile software development environment. • Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.in good standing
